The artist has given the full amount of his £25,000 honor prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the Britain's independent music venues.
He was awarded the prize on October 16 as his latest record his work was declared the top album of the past year.
The musician has chosen to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part local spots played in his beginning days.
"I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it weren't for all the performances I performed around the region, and beyond, when I was starting out," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."
Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these spaces have shut down – roughly one-sixth of the total UK scene.
Recently, well-known musicians including the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its initiatives to help venues survive, by applying a modest fee to their ticket costs, which goes to help local stages.
Sam Fender also joined in, collecting over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to help thirty-eight grassroots venues across the UK.
The donation assisted spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues stemming from flooding, blazes and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.
Additional spaces received financial assistance in upgrading amenities and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and fans.
"The idea that funds from performances in large arenas backs the smaller venues, where it begins for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has stated.
He is not the first artist to contribute his award funds to charitable organizations.
Back when they received the trophy in 1996 for their release the album, lead singer Cocker declared that the band would give their cash to the non-profit War Child.
That year, artist the artist divided her prize across a few charities, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.
"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they required new equipment," she told outlets.
Previously, they donated their prize money to the local youth club that developed their band, alongside other local music groups.
And winners that year M People contributed their award to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was identified with the condition.
"Winning was quite enough," stated singer the singer. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't require the extra, because we had the honor. So our success affected the lives of others."
In the past week, the Music Venues Trust shared it had saved several grassroots venues in that region, by transferring them to community ownership.
The first in the city and The Croft in that location were acquired under the community ownership program, which is funded by Arts Council England and supporters who buy "ownership units" in the properties.
